Icons are Polaroid transfers affixed onto 5x5 inch birch panels. A "lost fortune" (picked up from restaurant tables where diners had discarded their Chinese cookie fortunes) is layered in
encaustic wax over the print, and the whole thing is finished with oil paint. Funny and smart,
they are anti-superstition... but people have also purchased them as inspirational lucky charms.
The statue of the Virgin Mary is located in a cemetary in New Orleans, so I've donated a portion
of all Icon sales to the Red Cross Katrina Relief effort.
Icons are currently on exhibit at Misfits Gallery, 14th Street, Traverse City, Michigan
